I was searching for another topic and stumbled on to this post. Damn am I glad I did! It's a short novel but puts everything into perspective. Everything from starting his awakening while working temporarily in bethel to starting his new life outside the idiotic trenches of jw world. Awesome story!

Repost: My Two Week Consulting Trip to Bethel
by Hunyadi insince half of them ended up at my house on friday and saturday nights i was given a very shining report card.
he then told me that he would knock on my door bright and early in the morning to take me to breakfast with him and his wife.
a couple of them told they enjoy the articles i write in the art magazines and they were really happy to meet me.

"Deficit" at JW Assembly
by cookiemaster ini've recently been at an assembly here in romania and there was an announced they were running a 10,000 euro deficit and urging all attendees to donate more money besides the already 5k has was donated during that day.
i really don't understand these things.
it's their own assembly hall.

I was circuit accounts servant for 6 years until I stepped down as an elder because of my awakening. I can honestly say that at times we tried as hard as we could to be dishonest with the the brothers. If the time for the accounts report was coming up shortly and we were doing good with contributions, the assembly overseer would change the wording to make it sound as if we still needed more money to cover expenses even though we had more than enough.

Strip off the old personality
by eyeuse2badub inyesterday’s watchtower talked about how by becoming a jw it enabled “worldly” people to ‘strip off the old personality’ and make really significantly good changes in their life.. paragraph named 4 individuals (anonymous names of course and probably embellished tales)) sakura, ribeiro, stephen, and hans.
their lives changed for the good because they found god or because they became jw’s---right?.
so on the way home from this wt meeting, my wife commented to me how wonderful our brotherhood is and how it helps people who would otherwise be ‘lost’ n this world.

A half-brother of mine in California had been in gangs his whole life. Did time in prison and everything else that comes with gang life. At about 40 years of age, while in prison, he became a born again Christian. He stopped all his gang activities and transformed into a different person. What helped him change? It certainly wasn't the witnesses or Jehovah. Jws, no matter what they wish to believe, do not have a monopoly on changing peoples lives for the better. Many organizations and religions have the same effect on people. Jws choose to ignore that fact. -

Yea the voice is somewhat strange but the information, though he applied it to all religions, really hits home when it comes to the indoctrination one receives as a jw.

I'm sure others here have seen some of his videos. They have to do with different subjects such as losing faith, conformity, grooming minds, etc. I highly recommend this channel. -

I would say 75-85% of adult jws don't know how to carry a conversation at the doors and 95-100% of young people have no idea. So it'll be interesting to see what happens. Most people are barely comfortable placing mags or tracts.

If WT are cutting back on mags will they also cut back on Bethelites?
by truthseeker ini was thinking after hearing about the agm cutbacks to the mags and other website content surely they will end up dismissing more bethelites?
i would have thought in the old days, before the web, an artist or writer at bethel would have been a full time job making content for four 32 page mags a month.
now what are these guys going to do?.
